I attempted to buy this at a TMobile store – The guy went round and round and would not let me buy it without activating a new line of service. Others have had success buying several in the store.
So, I dialed 611 on my phone and explained that I just wanted to buy the phone, nothing else. The non-native English speaking girl was polite an efficient, even with the language barrier and placed the order for the phone. Should arrive in a few days.
Now, this is an excellent backup phone, heck – its an excellent primary phone from what I have read.
If you need to spend more money to feel like your getting a good phone – simply buy a few dozen Frugal Factor Books, or just realize a two months ago this phone was over $200.
