In the past I sold lock kits on Etsy. Now, in full time travel mode, we don’t have time to assemble and ship. These links and instructions provide you with everything you would have received in one of the kits. The only negative is that you may need to purchase more materials than you need for the locks. Instructions:
1. Assemble the threaded rod and riv-nuts as shown below. The riv-nuts will be facing each other and the
plastic tube will fit snugly over the riv-nuts. For my installation cutting the tube at 2.75 inches was good for the outside door. For the inside piece the size was 1 1/8” but your size may be a little different. I recommend first installing without the tube. Then get the length of the tube you need to ensure a perfect fit.
2. I did not use lock nuts the installation on my van. After assembled you will have 4 pieces as shown below:
3. On the van remove the 4 screws from the side plastic piece and remove it (see video for better illustration). Remove the threaded insert with a pliers or screwdriver. Ensure the riv-nut will fit. If it does not drill out the hole so the riv-nut fits snugly.
4. Using the riv-nut tool install the rivnut. Be sure that it is installed tightly. You do not want the riv-nut to spin. If you don’t install tight and it spins you have two options 1. Drill it out and install another riv-nut, or 2. Add a drop of super glue to the edge of the riv-nit (without the threaded rod installed). I would drill it out! But someone did leave the super glue idea as a comment on one of my videos. 5. After the riv-nut is installed simply screw in and line up the pieces and your done. Note: The kit does not include the bolts, or padlocks. The bolt size I recommend is ½” x 3” Long. https://amzn.to/4yg1rhM This size fits and is short enough to fit in the door, cup holder area.
